The artistic redesign of the palliative garden on the Charité Campus Virchow was carried out by a multidisciplinary team of artists associated with the Institute for Art in Context of the University of the Arts Berlin and conceived in close cooperation with the staff and doctors of the palliative ward of the Charité. This garden serves for the spiritual and mental rejuvenation of patients approaching the end of their lives. Additionally, it provides a habitat for plants, trees, birds, and other wildlife. The natural space, which can be experienced with multiple senses throughout the year, accommodates open areas for relaxation as well as a variety of retreat spaces, along with barrier-free access options to meet the diverse needs of its users. With a focus on socially applied and contextually reflective artistic practices, a harmonious space of reflection and tranquility was created incorporating various elements such as water, wood, stone, textile, bronze and ceramics.
