From the series: frammento
The series “frammento” combines Cristallina marble from Ticino with plastic fragments from the Peccia river. The starting point for these works was a severe flood that devastated the Lavizzara Valley in the summer of 2024 and left deep scars in the landscape. The series picks up on the changes in the landscape and recalls the state of the riverbed full of artificial fragments after the disaster. In sculptural gestures, stone and plastic merge into new forms. The combination of both elements questions the value of the materials. The series was created as part of a three-month residency at the Centro Internazionale di Scultura in Peccia. In the series “frammento”, the artificial fragments are clearly recognizable - supposedly worthless objects made of fossil raw materials in combination with marble refer to overarching questions about ecosystem change and are a reminder of the storm of 29 June 2024.
