Birch bark on paper

From the series: rotation

In the small-scale works of the series 'Rotation', natural materials are alienated and recontextualized through artistic intervention. The front and back, as well as the different layers of a piece of birch bark, come together to form a geometrical design. The simple gesture of fragmentation and rotation is at the core of the creative process: each piece of birch bark corresponds to one work in the series. The geometric arrangements of the various-colored bark fragments mark the intersection between nature and culture, reflecting human intervention in nature and its sensitive ecosystems.
